Can someone give me feedback on an ECG results?

ANGEL asked:

There has been some recent reports in the “Annals of Medicine” concerning Patients with long term Methadone use and their QT/QTc results on ECG’s. What would be considered the normal ranges for the QT/QTc on any individual’s ECG and is the following ECG results that I have provided, considered normal for a 44year old male? This was a 10 lead EKG .

P/PR: 112/190
QRS: 98
QT/Qtc: 404/426
P/QRS/T axis: 64/19/54 deg
Heart Rate: 67 BPM

Okay….Angel, I understand what you have asked, but due to a lack of other facts about you, only your Phisican can answer this with any sort of Personal relevance. If you want a singular evaluation, first I must tell you, there is no sucha thing as a “10 lead ECG”, just for your info,t’s 12 lead or a four lead. Now about the “Intervals” you are referancing, compared to a….normal ECG. Your PR interval is long and also your QT interval, makes me concerned about “Long QT Syndrome”. That can lead to some very serious issues. Mostly because your rate is too slow, but it is also commensurate with the “Over all” out Look of this ECG. Which is a bit abnormal…..but you said you were on methadone. Methadone is typically used to help an individual recover from Heroine (Initially). Today though, it is sometimes used to help people recover from Cocaine as well, sort of a “Transferance” recovery…..methodology. Cocaine is very well documented to have many heart effects and defects. So…sleuthing this ECG….would be erronious at best, without benefit of further background knowledge and test results. For example; To what degree was you daily intact of your drug of choice?? For how long did you consume this drug?? What is your Ethnic background (It is proven Beneficial) are you male or female??? What is you ancestoral History concerning Heart disease??? Do you have any sort of Valve problems or lung issues, renal or Kidney problems. What is your exercise routine or do you exercise???

I’m sorry to say, there are just too many variables here to deal with, rather than just giving you an appraisal of a ECG. Please consult your Physician about this issue, it could be disasterous if you don’t.

Your QTc is borderline prolonged. I suspect that this is not important, but it should be discussed with your doc.
