i was on everything from heroin to crack to methadone to xanax. i feel that i have been successful at getting clean. i did not do it traditionally. i didnt go to NA or any other rehab. i just finally believed in me and God. i guess what i’m asking here is your take on this? what do you think my chances for a job in the counseling field if i havent gone through NA? NA says doing the same things over and over again expecting the different results is insanity. well, i did something different this time and i really feel i have different results. what are your thoughts on this?

ok well i’m 22 years old so you all know….at the age of 16 i started to enjoy useing vicodin,percocets, to get high and deal with the everyday teenage problems, i went from usein once in a while to a full blown addict by the age of 19, i was abusing oxycontin,morphine paches and pill, shooting heroin and oxycontin, then started substituing opites with ectacy,meth and cocaine, i got married at age 19and had a child, she was aware of my problem but did not know how seriouse it was, well to put it all together…i’m now devorced, lost my house because of the drugs(bought drugs insted of paying bills) i’m currently enrolled at a methadone clinic for my addiction, now even after everything that happend to me,and all the trubble i got in for stealing and stuff while i was an addict using. i still abuse my perscription adderall and ritalin, why cant i stop myself from finding ways to still get high…will i ever change? or is it just my addictive personality? what is your opinoin?

I know most of you will say that I should dump the loser. I can’t do it. First of all, I know what he’s going thru as I’m a recovering addict myself. I’m on the Methadone program and it’s working well. I’m so worried about him. He’s overdosed several times and almost died. He tried quitting cold turkey and was okay for a week and then went back to it this past week. I say that most of it is mental right now. He can’t afford Methadone and gets his money for drugs in illegal ways. I’m so sad ’cause he doesn’t want to hang out with me anymore. I haven’t even seen him in 6 days now. We’ve been dating for over 8 years. He was totally different when we first met. He gets so angry when I confront him. I think that the only way he’ll get clean is if he is arrested. He never has spent more than a couple of days in jail and I think a month or two might set him straight. He’s already been to a rehab but it didn’t work. What can I do????
I suffer from severe anxiety and depression and I don’t think I can handle this much longer. He lives with his Mom and she’s really hurting as well. What is it going to take to wake him up?

I have a friend that is addicted and wants to detox but he works and cannot go into a hospital to detox. He has tried cold turkey and cannot do that either. He previously was in a methadone program but doesn’t want to go back there because they keep the addicts on methadone for a very long time. Sometimes more than a year. I’ve heard there is a drug he could take for a few days that will take away the withdrawal symptoms but I don’t know the name or where he would go to get it.

i have been an addict now for 6 years, and been trying to quit for nearly 6 years, i hate what it has done to my life, all i do is get up and panick about how im going to get my next fix, i hate the drug and everyone i know on it hates it too, i have been in rehab twice and both times i came out and started using again,it controls me and when people say why dont you just stop i wish it was that easy. ive been on methadone but cant help using on top so thats no good and did nt have any luck with subutex either, i hate it when people say it makes you a bad person cause i have never stolen or prostituted myself even though i have thought about it i cant bring myself to do it, i fund it with my little bit of money i have and do car boot sales and things to afford it but im coming to the point that i cant see a way out of this for me and am afraid that i will be like this for the rest of my horrible life, its horrible, what is there left for me to do
