Our friend has chronic pain associated with an assault to the head with a tire tool, that resulted in a fractured skull, crushed sinus and a broken jaw. He has had one surgery but will require more. Because he is at the mercy of his home state’s budget, he may not get the surgery. Now the high-powered pain-killers he’s on are the only thing that get him through. He’s taken so many that there’s no way he could stop now, and the pain which is very real is still an issue. So…how do we get him the pain management he needs and get him off the Oxycodone? Is methadone maintenance a solution? Would he qualify for a state program? What kinds of non-narcotic pain management programs are out there that could he try? This is not a joke. We love this person and want what’s best for him. No insurance, no trust fund. Any ideas?

Juvinjbj…a little touchy, aren’t you? I am looking for alternative pain management..I said that. I want to treat the pain. What I don’t want is a $300.00 a week, run to Mexico habit to ruin his life. Back off.

I am about to start a Methadone Maintenance program tomorrow, and i am really scared. i have had a problem with oxy’s for years. I have tried suboxone treatment, and it didn’t work for me. I didn’t feel like myself. I felt like i was a shell of me, i couldn’t talk to people.. i felt anxious and sick, and besides all of that… i absolutely DESPISED the taste.
Anyway, the methadone program has given me a new hope. Hope that i can actually quit in a way that is comfortable and ultimately as painless as possible.
I was just scared that on the first day they wouldn’t give me enough to take away my pain. You see, i take anywhere from 41/2 to 8 80s a day. That is 360-640mgs. I think that is a lot. a LOT. and it is HARD for me to just do 360mgs. Soo…. i was reading that the normal prescribed dosage of meth is between 30-80 mgs… and that they slowly work your way up.
This has made me freak out, and think that i can’t do this. My withdrawels from oxy are far too great to handle, and if i even feel them a LITTLE bit then i won’t and can’t do this.
Anyway so when they tell me what dosage they will give me on the first day, i want to know if it will be enough or not. Mainly because if it isnt, i am screwed. I JUST found out that meth is an opiod BLOCKER. Sooooo if they prescribe me too low of a dose than i will be in withdrawal all day without the option to even take a suboxone ( cuz it will cancel it), let ALONE take a teensy bit more oxy to supliment the low dosage.
i also know that they dosage they want to give you, they can’t (legally) give you right away. You have to be “worked up to” it. .
Anyway… does anyone have any suggestions or advice? I don’t need any lectures or any of that sh*t… obviously this isn’t the time or place for that. Thank you so much.

I just read somewhere that it only takes one injection of buprenorphine and that’s enough to last for 6 weeks. The article also stated that buprenorphine is an appealing alternative to methadone. My sister is about to undergo drug treatment, and I just wanted to know if there are any drug treatment programs in Auburn Hills that make use of this drug.

I dated a guy for over 2 1/2 years whom had been battling addiction to drugs. We were in a long-distance relationship, so I was not aware of how seriously he was involved & the extent of his using. As far as I knew, he was receiving psychiatric treatment & counselling and participating in a methadone program. Apparently he had an entire “secret” life I knew nothing about. I can only imagine the things he might have been involved in.
