I’m on 90 mgs of Methadone for about 5 months almost now. Started on 10mgs of lexapro 5 days ago, and am now adding the Soma. My doctor does not know that I am on Methadone when I got prrescribed the Lexapro and the Soma. It made me quiet more drowsy when I started on the Lexapro. Them today I took a soma And it made my methadone feel almost twice as strong. Which of the medicines do you think is responsible for making me so drowsy. Should I cut one of them off? I don’t want to be so high I’m like a vegetable now. I take the methadone because I got out of using heroin and have not touched it since. Which I plan to stick to even though I know it will be hard but I did enough of that, and that phase of my life is complete. Now I feel Its the Somas that are really knocking me out mixed with the methadone. I got the soma for shoulder blade pain from a car accident I was in. I would really like it if someone or a profesional in the medicalfield could give any ansewrs or suggestions.thx Joe

Now i want you all to know that I’m not a heroin addict i’ve been prescribed methadone for pain relief due to a skeletal muscular condition i suffer from. I’m having a hard time with my friends and teachers, they don’t seem to understand what I’m going through ( all the side effects, mood swings ect… ), along with the stares and confrontations i have to deal with just because I’m taking painkillers of such magnitude. I just don’t know what to do anymore i’ve lost several “close” friends cause of this and i was wondering if i could just get some advice.

I asked a question bout my sister, and would up getting a lot of responses from people who work with heroin addicts. So, please read everything first. My sister got sciatica with her first child, so bad that she gets “stuck” when she lies flat on her back and every way she moves causes really horrible nerve spasms. She wound up on methadone (doc was eventually investigated by govt for prescription fraud!) and desperately wanted off, but found out the hard way that she can’t just stop. So she began to detox from 60 mgs, then got accidentally pregnant at 35 mgs. Decided rather than just abort to continue, with an OB-GYN’s approval, to continue detox (2mgs per week). So far, so good, down to 16 mgs. But she’s nervous if her baby will have any harm from this, most docs say things should be okay, but it’s a drug! Also, her sciatica is getting bad again, and she gets “stuck” now in positions that used to be okay. Has anyone detoxed and had baby? How can back be helped w/o narcotics?

but been on opids 4 3yrs..methadone 2 yrs..i got down to 20 Mg’s then stopped now paying for it.. im not super bad..do have off and on cold sweats…the questshion is how long will the withdrawal from 20mgs last..its been 6 days since last 20 mg dose…not 4 heroin withdraws pain medicine..never did heroin be fore…..10 POINTS ASAP

I know that Catapress and Tenex are also preferred, as well as Methadone. But Methadone is problematic, and for heavier users–mostly for class II’s like OxyContin and Morphine, not to mention Heroin. And couldn’t Ultram be used as well?
