My husband’s sister has a 3 year old – she was on Heroin and then methadone for her whole pregnancy. Now, her 3 year old can say 5 or 6 slurred words and mostly communicates with grunts and pointing. When I have asked my MIL about ut she states she thinks it’s because they taught him a few signs and now he’s “too stubborn” to talk. No one is taking him to the Dr, to be evaluated because they don’t seem to think there’s an issue. Is there anything I can do to help my little nephew out?
My nephew lives an hour away and I have a 3 month old so I only see him about once a month. I guess I am wondering if there’s something I can say to my SIL and MIL, or someone I can call if they don’t listen. 3 Seems very old to me to not be talking, even though I know all children develop differently.
