I live in the State of North Carolina and our insurance has changed and I now have to purchase my meds for 3 months at a time for 1 money,I know in some states schedule ll Narcotics can only be administered on a monthly prescription,but this new insurance Company id requesting a script for 3 months per medication I am taking,It’s actually a savings for me but is it legal in the state of NC to do that,I really need to know or know who I can contact to find out for sure,thanks in advance for any answers I may receive on this,Randy

I would contact the insurance carrier and ask them about their guidelines for filling a schedule narcotic such as oxycontin, some will allow a 3 month filling, while others will only allow a month to month refill on a new prescription each month. If they don’t help your insurance should have the phone number of a person,to contact, who is able to answer these questions for you.
This is all part of a crackdown by the federal government and drug agencies after Oxycontin, Methadone and Hydrocodone began showing up as drugs teens were using to get high and dying after taking lethal overdoses of them.
As a matter of fact Oxycontin has been nicknamed “Hillbilly Heroin”, because of the ease of obtaining it, compared to other drugs such as Marijuana or Heroin, and is cheaper than these drugs as well.
That is why people who are legitimately using these medications for injures and illnesses are being punished for the deeds of the people thaat want these drugs to sell for either profit or getting high on them themselves.
