I’ve been addicted for about 3 years..I’m on 30 mg a day and this is off the street..will a clinic accept me? Or do I have to be on other opiates?

A clinic should accept you. Most clinics would and it’s not uncommon that people come in positive for methadone. However, some clinic do consider it a problem. The best thing you can do is to call your local clinics and ask. Most likely they will help you.
Another option for you would be Suboxone with is a synthetic opiate like methadone but it works a bit differently. It does take care of withdrawal symptoms and cravings like methadone does though and is a good medication for a lot of people. Some don’t do well on it and prefer methadone but it’s worth a shot. One benefit is that it can be prescribed at a doctors office and you only have to go once a month. Most insurance covers it too.
One drawback is that switching from methadone to Suboxone can be tricky. Suboxone, shortened sub, is a partial antagonist meaning that it’s a partial anti opiate. If you take it on methadone it will cause immediate withdrawal symptoms. Therefore you can’t take it while you still have methadone on your system. So when someone switches from methadone to sub they have to wait a few days between the last methadone dose and the first suboxone dose and they have to be in moderate withdrawal when they start. If you are in suffucient withdrawal the sub will make it better. But if the withdrawal is not bad enough it will make it worse. So it’s tricky. Most suboxone doctors are aware of these issues though and would be able to help you make the transition.
