I am taking methadone for treatment to get off drugs. I love the taste of that tea. It doesn’t have any “drugs” in it to make you fall asleep, its just made up of herbs. I’ve asked the clinic and they told me to call the pharmacy, but when I called them they told me to call the clinic. So I don’t know. Please try to help. Thank You!

Sleepytime tea is just herbal tea, it won’t make you fail a drug test.

FDA and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) have launched a campaign to increase awareness about the risks associated with using methadone and how to minimize them. Methadone has long been used to treat drug addiction, but it is now also being used to treat moderate to severe pain in patients who don’t respond to non-narcotic pain medications. Healthcare professionals and patients need to understand the power and potential dangers of methadone in order to reduce the risk and get the maximum benefit from the drug. Healthcare providers should make sure patients understand that methadone remains in the body even after the pain relief wears off, so taking an additional dose to relieve pain while the earlier dose is still in the body could lead to an unintentional overdose. Also, methadone interacts with many other drugs and supplements. These interactions could decrease a patient’s pain relief, or cause a toxic buildup of methadone in the body. That could lead to dangerous changes in breathing or heart beat that could be fatal. Here are some of the things patients should do if they take methadone: • Share your complete medical history with your healthcare provider, especially if you are using methadone for the first time. • Take methadone exactly as prescribed and be sure to follow all your doctor’s directions. • Never take more methadone than the amount prescribed, at the times prescribed. Hey, so I took some subutex last night not knowing what it was at the time, thought it was E and got pretty messy. Ended up puking through-out the night and gouching out (really drowzy, in your own world) and began scratching. Morning after I have been puking up again especially if I drink anything, i’ve stopped being sick now however I still keep scratching. Everything on my body is being itchy. Basically is this a common side effect or have I had an allergic reaction? I feel overall ill and my eyes are black. I am not a heroine addict or addicted to methadone. If it helps I did snort a fair few lines since I did not feel anything after the first line, was it an overdose? Please don’t tell me how stupid I am for doing it or taking drugs, i’m not asking for your personal opinion on my life decisions. If you have an appropriate answer to this question I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
Methadone: Drug Treatment or Just Another Addiction?
Drug addiction to Opiates (Oxycontin, Vicodin, Heroin, etc) is one of the hardest to overcome. The physical withdrawals resemble a severe case of the flu that can last for several days, and many addicts immediately revert to drugs or find themselves rushing to the methadone clinic to ease their symptoms. Drug treatment, however, which hands out another highly addictive opiate doesn’t make sense.
Methadone, a synthetic form of an opioid, acts much like heroin. It inhibits the opioid receptors in the brain. Where heroin releases an abundance of dopamine in the system and creates a euphoric high from this same receptor, methadone blocks the high and reduces the withdrawal symptoms from heroin. In this way, methadone has proven to be an effective form of drug treatment. According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy’s Fact Sheet on methadone, “Methadone is a rigorously, well-tested medication that is safe and efficacious for the treatment of narcotic withdrawal and dependence.”
