Can My Doctor Get Me Off Opiates?

Question by don: Can my doctor get me off opiates?
I have a bad opiate addiction.. 60-120mg of oxy a day or sometimes a couple bags of H a day. I’m currently on methadone (only for 4 days) but its giving me a rash so I can’t take it. J was on subutex before that for 2 weeks but that doesn’t work for me.. So my question is can my primary care physician prescribe me some type of opiate to wean me off oxy? Then when I get down to a low dose prescribe me benzos or something for sleep? This is seriously my last option other than go back to getting drugs on the street or killing myself. Rehab is not an option as I have a job and am in college and can’t be gone for months it just can’t happen. Please help me out if you know the answer, thanks a bunch!

NO ONE can “get me off opiates” except yourself. A doctor can help you although your level of addiction may require hospitalization. Ceasing drugs is a CHOICE you have to make and until you make that choice no amount of medical help will get you to stop your abuse of drugs.

Looking to go on “benzos” hardly qualifies for wanting to cease your drug habit.
